Commentary Notes

 The most reliable source for scripture is the Bible: God's word, Absolute Truth that is living; Sharper than a two edged sword, able to separate bone from marrow. 
Here are some commentaries from different authors.

 

This Weeks Lectionary Readings

 

Mark 7:24-37

The mysteries of how Jesus chose to deal with those that needed help in different ways.

Isaiah 35:4-7a

How God restores all that is lost, all that is dead and in despair, creating life and joy abundantly.

James 2:1-17

The sin of favoritism and what we are to do instead.

Psalm 146

Praising the LORD because He is faithful to His promises, opening the eyes of the blind, freeing the captives, claiming the world as His.

Mark 7:1-8, 14 & 15, 21-23

Some good historical context inlaid within this commentary. It helps us understand where Jesus is coming from and why.

James 1:17-27

Overall a good commentary about how we ought to live because our Father is unchanging.

Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9

Although geared for Pastors, there are some really good insights into how we can relate to the Israelites in Deuteronomy.
